Definition of Alzheimer’s

Discovered in 1906 by German Neuropathologist Alois Alzheimer, Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive brain disorder that gradually destroys a person’s memory, ability to learn, reason, make judgments, communicate and carry out daily activities. It is the most common cause of dementia.

Progressive degenerative brain syndromes are called dementia, they affect memory, thinking, behavior and emotion.

ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION LEBANON was created as a non-profit organization with the mission of improving the quality of life for people with dementia and their caretakers and with the primary objective of raising public awareness throughout Lebanon and the Middle East.
