Symptoms of Alzheimer’s

Symptoms may include:

  • Gradual memory loss
  • Difficulty in finding the right words or understanding what people are saying
  • Difficulty in performing previously routine tasks
  • Changes of personality and mood
  • Impairment of judgment
  • Disorientation of time and place.
  • Putting objects in inappropriate places.

As Alzheimer’s Disease progresses, individuals may also experience changes in personality and behavior. These changes include anxiety, suspiciousness or agitation.  Sometime, one may experience delusions or hallucinations. The first area in the brain affected is the one  that controls memory and thinking skills. However, as the disease progresses, cells die in other regions of the brain too. Individuals with Alzheimer’s disease will eventually need complete care.

The loss of brain function itself causes death even if the individual has no other serious illness.
